It all started in 2010 when a dear friend gave me a fabulous watercolour painting kit for my birthday.
I struggled for about a year trying to learn from YT videos, then started taking weekly classes under the guidance of a renowned Melbourne Impressionistic artist, and member of the prestigious 'Twenty Melbourne Painters Society.
Over the years I accumulated quite a portfolio of landscapes, seascapes, animals, birds, portraits, and other interesting subjects, and I loved every minute of it! (See Pre-June 2023 Gallery below, SOON)
It was a great honour in 2020 to be commissioned by the Order Of Australia to create a painting featuring their signature wattle motif. I am proud to say the OOA are still using my design for the silk scarf they give to new recipients every year (see below).
After a hiatus of several years, a renewed inspiration suddenly sprang forth in June 2023, and I painted 100 new pieces in the next 12 months.
The style of these new paintings was different to anything I'd done before, but they still fitted the four basic principles of a good painting;-)
The paintings were bright, strangely abstract, used a mixture of techniques, subjects and ideas, and made me very happy.
So it was an exciting experience ... With ideas for paintings springing to mind daily, and the inspiration flowing out of my arm freely! What Fun!
People said they loved these new paintings and told me:
"Take it to the next level! Make them available as canvasses and prints".
So I did! And "In A Nutshell Art" (IAN-Art), was born.
It made sense to start applying my art to various everyday items, and make them available to people who were looking for fresh, unique and colourful designs.
So, I hope YOU enjoy the paintings and the designs as much as I LOVE creating them.
